Crohn’s disease is a chronic inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) that causes inflammation of the digestive tract. It can affect any part of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract from the mouth to the anus, but it most commonly impacts the ileum (last part of the small intestine) and colon. The inflammation can penetrate deep into the bowel wall, leading to complications.
