Julie H. Hammond, APRN-C first became a nurse in 1989 after graduating from the University of South Carolina, and decided to advance her education. She completed her Master of Science degree in Nursing- Family Nurse Practitioner from the Clemson University. She also received certifications in advanced practice registered nurse, ANCC Family Nurse Practitioner, and from the State of South Carolina. She is a proud member of the American College of Nurse Practitioners, The Honor Society of Nursing, and Sigma Theta Tau International.
Julie became a nurse practitioner because she believes the NP role provides a unique blend of both medical and nursing care. It allows for both health promotion and maintenance through the diagnosis and treatment of both acute illness and chronic conditions, both seen frequently in gastroenterology.
Julie is originally from South Carolina and has lived in the Upstate area for 25 years. She sees this area as having so much to offer in entertainment-from cultural events, to shopping, to sports (go Tigers!). Although not originally from Greenville, Julie has enjoyed watching and being a part of the incredible changes to the city over the years.
